The Wine Somme founder’s team has decades of high technology, IT industry experience covering product innovation, operations, new ventures and rapidly expanding business operations, including 2 previous startups, Boston area and Silicon Valley.
Prior to starting Wine Somme, Jon Schoonmaker provided the operational leadership for all Information Security products and services line of business at Exostar, LLC. Jon led the multi-functional organization of project managers, new service managers and technical support team responsible for all customer delivery. This team grew revenue over 80%, ~$13M-$23M during Jon’s leadership. As a leadership team member he initiated program management operations for a new F100 life sciences customer, building an extensive research collaboration site. This deployment created an industry award winning web site, growing to over 10K subscribers and generating $3M professional service and $8M subscription revenues annually.
In the Springfield, MA, area, Jon volunteers with Valley Venture Mentors where he is a facilitator, and SCORE Western Massachusetts Chapter as a business counselor. He has been a judge in the area’s college and university entrepreneur competitions.

Dr. Mary Schoonmaker is currently an Assistant Professor Marketing and Entrepreneurship at Western New England University, and has been a guest lecturer at universities around the world. She completed her Ph.D. in Marketing at The George Washington University – School of Business. She has a B.S. in Business Education from the University of Connecticut and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland. She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies, AMA, The Grinspoon Foundation, and Valley Venture Mentors. Her publications and research interests include technology and innovation marketing and regional innovation networks.
Her extensive industry experience spans the high-technology, IT industry. These leadership experiences are in sales and marketing for IBM, Digital Equipment Corporation, and Quantum Corporation.
